It is with a heavy heart that we share that Joan Baugher passed away yesterday evening. Joan was actively involved with the Howard County Fire and Rescue Train Garden and Open House. She assisted with all aspects of the train garden from assembly, helping with staffing, and taking it down and putting it away. When she found out that we didn’t open the train garden on Mondays and Tuesdays she committed herself to coming up those evenings (along with Pete and Sharon) so that the train garden would be open.

Joan was involved in the earlier train display at fire Station 8 (Rt. 99 near Mt. Hebron HS) in the late 70’s. She lent her trains to the station so the firefighters could assemble a layout for public viewing. She had also been actively involved with the Ellicott City Volunteer Fire Department as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in years past.
